Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba has heaped praise on Dominic Calvert-Lewin following the recent Premier League match against Everton. The Toffees had made the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium eyeing their first league win in four matches and they managed to achieve the feat with a Gylfi Sigurdsson brace and a late goal from Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking after the game, Bluebirds centre-back Bamba had reserved special praise for Calvert-Lewin whom he had been interacting with following the game. He added that he had never faced the Englishman before but the youngster has the credentials to become a leader upfront after demanding for possession of the ball.

“I’ve never played against him, first time, he is very good, his movement is good, he was vocal as well asked for the ball and when he didn’t receive it he was shouting to the midfield players to make sure they found him and I think he is a good young English player,” he told Sky Sports’ Football Centre following the midweek game.

Calvert-Lewin has earned his fair share of game time during the course of the current campaign but that has mostly come about with the limited threat presented by Cenk Tosun. Nonetheless, he should be pleased with the opportunities which have been offered to him and hopefully, the late goal against the Bluebirds can spark a change in fortunes.

Everton ended their recent dreadful run with a comfortable 3-0 win over Cardiff but their next game is a lot stiffer with Liverpool making the trip to Goodison Park. The Toffees were on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat last time around after an error from Jordan Pickford handed the Reds an injury time winner, but they will be hoping for a better outcome this weekend to dent the title hopes of Jurgen Klopp’s team.
